Ryan Shehan Earns Two Top-Ten Results at Road America

Ryan Shehan RacingRyan Shehan will next take on the USF Juniors series at Virginia International Raceway in early June

It was his second ever trip to Road America as Ryan Shehan would take part in rounds four, five and six of the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda. As a second-year driver, the Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport competitor was looking to bring his experience to the table in one of the longest tracks on the series in his quest to acquire as many championship points as possible.

Showing speed in practice on Friday that slotted him into the top-five on the results sheets, Shehan returned to the track on Saturday for qualifying and the first race of the weekend. With a difficult qualifying run that saw him mired back in the 13th position, the young Texan would start his first race of the weekend from the inside of row seven.

“Qualifying was not the best for us and really put me behind for the first race,” expressed Shehan. “I was able to claw my way back forward and score some valuable championship points but need to make sure I start further up the grid in the future. With the yellow flags and the competition level high, it is very difficult to move forward in our shorter races.”

Displaying the speed of his Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport machine, Shehan worked his way from his P13 starting spot to cross the line in eighth. Race two on the weekend would be another point scoring race for the sophomore Shehan as he secured another top-ten result, this time in the ninth position. In a race that featured only nine laps, opportunities to move forward were limited as Shehan managed to level up as many positions as possible in the allotted green flag laps.

Back on the track Sunday afternoon for the third and final race of the weekend, round six of the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda would be green late in the day. Looking to make it three-for-three in point scoring races at Road America, Shehan fell just short finishing eleventh in the final race of the triple header.

Shehan continued, “The weekend did not end like we had wanted to. My forward progress was stalled, and I missed the points for my first time this year. While it was a good weekend, the drive to win is more than ever, and I can’t wait until our next event at Virginia International Raceway in the USF Junior Series.”

Looking to gain as much wheel-to-wheel experience as possible, Ryan Shehan is set to battle in the pre-Road to Indy program, USF Juniors, at the Virginia International Raceway over the June 3-5 weekend. Utilizing the same Ligier JSF4, this will be the first time that Shehan will compete with Cooper Tires as he accelerates his learning curve.

Ryan Shehan RacingShehan readies for rounds four, five and six of the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda

After a one month break from the opening event weekend, the F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda is gearing back up and heading north to Wisconsin for the Road America SpeedTour, this Friday through Sunday, May 20-22. Round one of the series at NOLA Motorsports Park revealed a breakout start for Ryan Shehan and his Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport program as he went on to claim one podium result, along with fourth and eighth place finishes, to kick off his 2022 racing campaign.

Shehan, currently sitting in fourth for the F4 US Driver’s Championship, is feeling confident going into the weekend. With his Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport program leading the Team Championship chase, he is hoping for more podium results this weekend and looks to lead the charge.

“The car is fast so it’s going to be all about qualifying well and maintaining position at the front of the field,” explained Shehan. “We definitely need to be ahead of the trouble that seems to happen in the middle of the pack and then let the chips fall where they may from there.”

Shehan added, “I am looking forward to Road America. It is the first track that I will race at for a second time so I will look to take the knowledge and experience gained from last season into this year’s event.”

With rounds four, five and six taking place at Road Americas, Shehan is looking for a triple podium performance to further catapult him to the front of the race to the championship. Shehan, who came back from a bad injury in 2020, has shown the determination and perseverance of a seasoned driver.

Ryan Shehan Claims a Podium Finish in 2022 F4 Championship Opener

Ryan Shehan Claims a Podium Finish in 2022 F4 Championship Opener

Shehan secures his team, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport, a position on the leaderboard in 2022

Ryan Shehan F4 USA ChampionshipRyan Shehan’s hope to get himself and the Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport program on the leaderboard for 2022 became a reality this weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park. As one of the team’s top scorers this weekend, Shehan was able to earn his first career F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda podium and brings home a third-place trophy.

At the end of day one, Shehan had proven he was going to be a title contender this season by scoring best overall practice time among the twenty-two competitors. On day two, he brought that speed back to the track with him for qualifying, scoring a third-place position on the grid for race one. Keeping steady in the first wheel-to-wheel action of the season, Shehan fought for his first ever F4 podium and came out triumphant securing a third-place finish.

“What a great start to the season,” explained Shehan. “We have made huge gains in our winter test program and showed that at NOLA. We were fast right out of the gate and look forward to trying to carry that speed and momentum through the 2022 season.”

Shehan, in his sophomore year of the F4 United States Championship, showed nothing but consistency this weekend, also holding his ground in the second race starting in fourth and ending in the same position, just shy of the podium. The afternoon of day three turned out to be a tough one for all the Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport F4 drivers but Shehan steered his #66 entry to a team best result in the eighth position.

Shehan added, “A huge thank you to the team and all my supporters. I knew we would have pace this year and the results this weekend, just two points out of third in the Driver Championship, build my confidence for the future.”

You can find a full list of results on the F4 United States Championship website. Ryan Shehan will be on track with Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport for the next at Road America for the Road America SpeedTour Friday, May 19th through Sunday, May 22nd.

Ryan Shehan Gears Up for a Fight to the Finish at the NOLA SpeedTour

Ryan Shehan Gears Up for a Fight to the Finish at the NOLA SpeedTour

Ryan Shehan RacingShehan aims to get himself and his team, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport, on the leaderboard for 2022

With his first race of 2022 at Sonoma Raceway under his belt, Ryan Shehan is gearing up for a fight to the finish in the series opener of the 2022 F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda this weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park. Announced last week, Shehan will partner with the Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport team in 2022 and has his sights set on the top step of the podium as he looks to battle for race wins and podium results in his quest to chase the series title.

Sonoma Raceway showed a promising window into this second season driver’s 2022 capabilities, bringing home his first win and two podiums in the F4 class at the Formula Pro USA Winter Series. In the meantime, Shehan has been keeping focused and running laps in the car at INDE Motorsports Ranch in Texas and NOLA Motorsports Park which was the final preseason test before the first green flag of 2022 this weekend.

The NOLA Motorsports Park series test on March 29 and 30 revealed that this young driver is eager to be on the podium in 2022 and that his off-season testing and preparation has prepared him for the fight that he is set to enter in 2022. Finishing his rookie season in the middle of the pack for the 2021 championship standings gives Shehan an extra incentive to get himself, and his team, on the top of the leaderboard this year.

“We had a great test at NOLA, it was good to get on track where we will race our opening round,” explained Shehan. “The Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport program is a big one this year, but we all work together well with one common goal. While it is a long season, we are all looking forward to the first green flag this weekend!”

You can catch Ryan Shehan on track at NOLA Motorsports Park Friday, April 8 through Sunday, April 10 for the 2022 F4 United States Championship Powered by Honda season opener. Stay tuned to his social media pages for more announcements, news, information, photos, and results from the 2022 race season.
